The impending “Age Wave” of older adults (retiring baby-boomers), promises unprecedented challenges and risks to the people of this Archdiocese. Rising costs and diminishing public funding are seriously affecting the welfare of those in need of housing, services, comprehensive rehabilitation and long term care.
In every age, the Catholic Church has adapted the timeless command of Christ, to serve and love our neighbor … to the unique circumstances of the present day. Human life and the dignity of the human person are under attack today. The Church proclaims its Gospel of life in an age which increasingly marginalizes those in need, especially at the beginning and towards the end of life.
As a coordinating, Archdiocesan entity, CSS executes its mission to address this PRO-LIFE, pastoral and social crisis by working with four Catholic organizations in this Archdiocese, who already provide excellent housing and care services in the Catholic tradition, for older adults. Those organizations include:
1. Catholic Eldercare
2. Franciscan Health Community
3. St. Therese, New Hope
4. St. Therese, Southwest |
